Changing 250 Lives

The NEWELL Team Cares;
It's Not All About Us!

Thank you for visiting our web site. You are welcome to explore some information about an important life mission:

Changing 250 Lives a Month

What is meant by this? Through Ryan's Well, we are providing water to 200 people in Africa every month; Through World Vision we are sponsoring young children in places such as Mexico, Dominican Republic, India, etc.; Also through World Vision, we are helping to provide breakfast-at-school programs to Native Canadian children; Through local organizations we are supporting food banks and shelters in Halton Region. Although, it isn't really just 'we' who are supporting these organizations, it is YOU. Thank You!

December 7th, 2006 Update: This is a BIGGIE!!! First of all, we owe a massive debt of gratitude to all of you for you ongoing support of our efforts in every way, so, THANK YOU! As we are having so much fun and success with this, we are raising our sites just a bit and setting a 5-year goal of being able to re-name this effort as Changing 25,000 Lives A Month! As we progress towards this goal, we will keep you posted on how we are doing and what we are doing.

December 5th, 2006 Update: An important announcement . . . . . I, Chris Newell, am very proud to announce that I have been appointed as a Director for the Children's Aid Society in Halton. This is the first time I have been a Director of an organization such as this, so I am excited and looking forward to helping in changing the lives of Children in Halton!

October 3rd, 2006 Update: Today I received a call from my friend and mentor in Vancouver, Deb Stevens, who told me about an exciting new project that she has taken on in her business and personal life. She has taken it upon herself to support an entire school of 150 children in a remote village in Africa, to the extent of providing uniforms, re-building the school, and whatever else the children there need. This effort is not being done through any organization, but is inspired because Deb met a man who grew up in the village and she was deeply touched by his tale of his youth and how things had not changed on his recent visit home. Deb was so passionate about this project that I immediately pledged to support 3 school children however they need our help. We'll keep you updated.

September 23rd, 2005 Update: Through the efforts of Keller Williams Realty International, our office has adopted a Realtor from New Orleans. Here's some information on our adoptee, Ronnie:

OUR NEW ORLEANS ADOPTEE
This morning I had the pleasure of speaking with our 'adoptee', Ronnie and would like to give you some information about Ronnie . . . .

Ronnie is an agent with the office in New Orleans, and he is also a renovation contractor. Ronnie does a lot of business with his fellow agents, and has quite a lot of work lined up repairing damage from Katrina. The challenge in that area for Ronnie is that most of his workers have left the area, many of them never to return.

Communications is quite a challenge still in that area, and I managed to reach Ronnie after a number of attempts. He was not aware that a major levee in the 9th Ward had given in, as there is only TV signal by rabbit-ears, and not much radio available. As of this morning, it was raining very hard where Ronnie is, and the winds are starting to get very strong again.

Ronnie is a New Orleans native, never having lived anywhere else.

Ronnie was given $2500 by Keller Williams International, and used that money to rent an apartment in Orange, Texas, as his own home has suffered a lot of damage - he said his home is repairable, although the tarps he has for a roof and windows may not hold with Rita coming through.

Yesterday was the first day that Ronnie was able to get back to New Orleans since Katrina hit, so he is quite busy. He seems to be in pretty good spirits though.

I told Ronnie that we had a garage sale to raise money for his needs, and he then gave me his banking information so that we can transfer the money to him. I asked what else we can do to help, and he didn't think he needs much else right now, so I left it that he & I will talk again the beginning of the week.

Ronnie was surprised to hear from me, and really didn't know about the 'Heart to Heart' initiative, but he was overcome by it and it seemed like he was shedding a tear or three.

Ronnie asked me to thank everyone involved in being his remote support system; he knows the Toronto area, having been here on holidays, and he asked that we keep him in our prayers especially this next few days as Rita does her thing.

September 5th, 2005 Update: Hurricane Katrina has hit and devastated many areas of Louisiana, Alabama & Mississippi and The NEWELL Team springs into action. Through my good friend Vikki Morvant, a Realtor in New Orleans who got out in time, we donate money to help her deliver truckloads of emergency supplies to people in New Orleans. We also plan a garage sale at our Oakville office, where we raise $1,576.47 for victims of Katrina.

June 17th, 2005 Update: As the school year winds to a close in Ontario, there are children around the world still attending school. Our special sponsorship for the month of June is to provide classroom materials for a year for 5 classrooms in Africa. Our special sponsorship for April & May saw us raising enough funds to provide farm animals for a village in Africa. For your support, we are truly thankful!

At the bottom of the page you'll find links to the web sites of these organizations. The NEWELL Team are Realtors giving back to our local community, our national community and our world-wide community through the organizations you see identified below.
